In 2002, Brian Martello Chaplin moved out to Lake Tahoe California with just $1,000 and a backpack to pursue the ski bum lifestyle. After several years supporting his skiing and travel habits working in the food and beverage industry, he discovered that he could apply his work ethic and the knowledge he gained from a degree in Environmental Studies at the University of Vermont to the underground world of cultivating medicinal cannabis.

While working with the plant itself is deeply gratifying, his greatest strengths are building solid teams and proven production models. From the soil to oil philosophy of Medicine Box, it is clear that Brian's true passions lie within the culture of cannabis and the California lifestyle. With Medicine Box, he bridges the gap between his passions and visions and innovative business concepts. Remaining true to the power of cannabis and its medicinal magic, Brian fluidly navigates the many nuances of the cannabis movement. He consistently positions himself and his company on the cutting edge of mindful cultivation and innovation.

When he's not developing his vision for Medicine Box and the cannabis community you can find him seeking inspiration skiing at Squaw Valley on KT-22, hiking in the Sierra Nevada mountains with his husky Phoenix, swimming along the shores of beautiful Lake Tahoe, or picking away at his acoustic guitar.  An epicurean of life's simplicities he is also fond of Pelligrino, Bulletproof Coffee, dining out, his epic friends and family, and good conversation

Are you ready for the reefer revolution? Well, regardless of whether you are or not, weed is here, and it's not going away anytime soon. Its use is quickly becoming legalized all over the country, and its acceptance as a legitimate medicine shows no signs of slowing down.Humans have been using marijuana for as far back as history takes us in countless cultures the world over. Despite this plant's incredibly diverse range of applications, it has been widely demonized by Western culture for the better part of the past century. Thanks to advances in science, and the growing popularity of alternative, natural medicine, this formally mysterious plant is finally getting the respect it deserves- beyond its prior reputation as a gateway party drug for stoners. In this episode, we learn all about the current cannabis culture by one of the nation's leading producers of medical-grade edibles and extracts- Brian Chaplin, founder of Medicine Box. Brian's 'Soil to Oil' philosophy is taking the industry by storm, by creating new standards for the cultivation and production of marijuana medicine. Whether you partake in using this plant for fun or the treatment of disease or illness, this interview is packed with useful, up to date information on the subject. If you know someone with mild or severe medical issues, who is looking for alternative solutions, please send this show their way.
