Nate has spent over 25 years working with sound in a wide range of roles—as a session and touring musician, composer, producer, engineer, sound designer, mastering engineer, consultant, teacher, and speaker. He's worked across diverse genres and recorded with notable artists including Bob Weir and The National. Throughout his career, he's remained driven by a passion for discovering sounds that are not only inspiring, but also serve as powerful tools for storytelling.

In 2011, Martinez's focus began to expand as he started exploring how music—and more importantly, sound—can profoundly shift our perspective, influence consciousness, and even support healing processes.

Nate founded NTM Sound in 2014 to share my knowledge and experience with others, beginning with one-on-one sound therapy treatments and community sound baths. He launched one of the first monthly sound bath programs in New York City at the Brooklyn Zen Center, and soon after developed a program for Sky Ting, while also leading weekly classes at MNDFL. These platforms allowed him not only to facilitate immersive experiences, but also to help shape emerging conversations around the role of sound in meditation. Through this work, Nate has contributed to a broader understanding of sound therapy and its benefits—becoming a recognized voice in the field. At the core of it all is a simple goal: to help people help themselves.

Currently, Nate facilitates in-person and virtual workshops and sound baths for individuals, groups, organizations, and helps contribute to wellness initiatives for global companies. As a public speaker he specializes in topics related to deep listening and sound therapy as a pathway to mindfulness. He also works as a composer of functional music and as a sound designer developing sound meditation content libraries for a range of companies and apps.

As a functional music composer Nate incorporates a range of techniques and disciplines to create works that provide the optimal listener experience, often with the end goal of creating a greater sense of calm, which can help the participant shift into a different state of being; call it flow state, a meditative state, or deep relaxation. The end result is a dynamic shift for the listener before and after.
