“The development of the Lourdes Hydrofix began after my daughter was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA)—also known as Werdnig-Hoffmann disease—a severely disabling and in some forms fatal disease—with a life-expectancy of no more than two years in some cases.”
When Takashi learned of his daughter’s diagnosis, he began searching for meaning and for ways to bring hope—to his family and to others facing serious challenges.

While the Lourdes Hydrofix is not a medical treatment for SMA or any other disease, its creation is deeply connected to one family’s story and their wish to turn suffering into service.
